Mission Statement
The Nevada Women's Philanthropy (NWP) is a member driven, pooled fund, large impact grant making organization established to address the needs of the greater Las Vegas community. Our membership consists of philanthropically motivated women, united by a powerful desire to address emerging issues facing our community in the areas of arts, education, environment, social services, and health.
Our Purpose
The NWP was modeled after the Everychild Foundation in Los Angeles, in the belief that a group of women can come together and award grants to make a serious difference in the community. All NWP funds are derived from member dues in lieu of fundraising events which can often be costly and require many hours of planning.
A Simple Approach
Create a small group of women - ultimately capped at 110 - who are each ready to commit $5,000 annually to make the dream of NWP a reality. NWP is affiliated with the Nevada Community Foundation as a Donor Advised Fund. In doing so, the NWP operates under the umbrella of the Nevada Community Foundation and utilizes their non-profit 501(c) (3) corporation status, thus allowing all NWP member contributions to be tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Target one non-profit organization each year with a dream project that our gift can make possible. Each project, carefully selected by the members, profoundly serves to benefit the needs of our community.
Award, ultimately, $1 million annually to fund a project. All grant recipients are closely monitored by NWP, and grant money is delivered in phases, based on performance in meeting specific grant requirements.
Limit membership in order to eliminate bureaucracy and red tape and to ensure a highly efficient, targeted organization, entirely run by member volunteers.
Address education, awareness and participation in philanthropy for our members and create opportunities for them to become more aware of the issues and needs facing Nevada.
